Lake Tekapo Holiday Park Review

We still quiet amazed by being able to stay in the free camp ground for three nights in the row. However, as we reached the end of our vacation, we needed to clean the campervan on the next day, because of that on last night we always have to stay in paid camp ground. In the paid camp ground we can empty the grey water, toilet and clean up the cars. Our choice at this time, was Lake Tekapo Holiday Park.

Location

The camp ground is located beside Lake Pukaki. It is on the left side of Tekapo – Twizel Road toward Twizel.

The Campsite

There was nothing special about the camp ground. It has common amenities, such as public toilet, kitchen and laundry. But we didn’t use much.

The camp ground had a nice view to the lake but since we reached in early evening we also couldn’t enjoy the view.

We got a small incident when came to the camp ground. The camp ground doesn’t have grey water dump point in the camp site as many other paid camp ground in New Zealand. Hence, we need to queue in common grey water and toilet dump point which is very inconvenient. On that day, we figured out that the facet handle for the grey water pipe was broken. Maybe because it hit something because it is located under the car. I needed to spent couple of hours to try to fix that out because otherwise the dirty water will be leaked.

Campsite Detail

  • Cost: $50 powered site
  • Overnight stay rule: Self-contained vehicles only
  • Toilet: didn’t check

Travelogee Impression

We stayed in the camp ground on 18 May 2017.

What We Like

The camp is located beside Lake Tekapo which offers pretty nice view.

What We Don’t Like

It is a bit expensive. There is no grey water dump point in campsite and worst there is no fresh water pipe in site too.
